Telephone Prototyping
The parts have arrived for prototyping telephone support in openSignalBox!
Below is a photo showing the layout of the prototype. This version uses a second-hand two-port telephone adapter for testing, but the solution can use cheap adapters that scale up to at least 24 ports. For the Knighton Crossing Project the requirement is four or five phones, so we will be considering a Grandstream HT818 which has 8 ports in a small fanless box.
Once we have this prototype set up, it will be shipped to the Knighton Crossing Project for them to test with their authentic phones. We will provide a standalone web testing interface which can be accessed by mobile phone via WiFi hosted from the Raspberry Pi computer. Stay tuned over Christmas for some more development on the telephone software and some testing videos!
